As a parent, family member or carer, you may be able to access services for someone else. We call this having proxy access. We can set this up for you if you are both registered with us.
Proxy access can be given to allow:
- online appointment booking
- online prescription requests
- viewing the medical record online
Parents may request a proxy access to their children’s records; this will cease automatically when the child reaches the age of 11.
Any subsequent Proxy Access will need to be authorised by the patient subject to a Gillick competency test being completed by a GP.
When the child reaches the age of 13, they can set up their own online access.
To request proxy access:
- you must show ID
- collect a proxy access form from reception when we are open
Linked profiles in your NHS account
Once proxy access is set up, you can access the other person’s profile in your NHS account, using the NHS App or website.
The NHS website has information about using linked profiles to access services for someone else.
